TACTICAL CARBINE FUNDAMENTALS

The Tactical Carbine Fundamentals Course (CARBINE I) is a one-day course designed to teach students the safe operation of their semi-automatic carbine or rifle. The course is tailored to the employment of the AR-15 platform due to its immense popularity throughout the United States. However, other semi-automatic carbines / rifles are welcomed as the course is not limited to the AR-15 platform and can easily be adapted to fit individual needs. Students will learn the basic operation and manipulation of their weapon system, basic firing positions, engage targets from various distances in a variety of positions, and diagnosis and clearance of malfunctions. Students will leave this course more confident of their ability with the tactical carbine and carry with them valuable skills and knowledge to develop their own personal training program.

 

 

Training Objectives:

- Safety

- Carbine selection and customization

- Equipment selection and placement

- Basic operation and maintenance of the AR-15 type Rifle / Carbine

- Sights, zeroing considerations and techniques, external ballistics

- Marksmanship fundamentals

- Basic shooting positions

- Reloading and immediate/malfunction drills

- Recoil Management

- Single target engagements

- Multiple target engagements

​- Develop a tactical mindset

 

Course Goal:

- After completing this course, students will have the basic skills to safely and confidently operate a carbine.

 

Prerequisites:

- Must be a U.S. Citizen

- Ability to legally own and possess a firearm

- An understanding of basic firearms safety rules

- Willingness to learn

 

Ammunition Requirements:

- 500 rounds of quality carbine ammunition (most malfunctions are ammo related)

 

Student Equipment Requirements:

- Carbine / Rifle (Center fire, semi-automatic, magazine fed. Center fire pistol caliber

  carbines are welcome.)

- Tactical Sling (one-point or two-point)

- Minimum of three (3) serviceable magazines

- BALLISTIC EYE & EAR PROTECTION

- Minimum of one (1) magazine pouch or other method to carry spare    magazine(s)

- Weapon cleaning kit with oil

- Appropriate range clothing (Long pants & closed toed shoes REQUIRED)*

       *choose clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty

- Water and snacks to last the day of training

       *bring a lunch as a 30 minute lunch break will be taken during the

         training day

 

Recommended Equipment:

- Optical Sight

- Electronic hearing protection (facilitates easier recognition of range commands)

- *ELBOW AND KNEEPADS (drills may be conducted on gravel)*

- Gloves (extended firing will heat barrel, and hand guard / rail)

- Headgear / hat

- Spare parts & tools

- Rain / inclement weather gear (training will continue despite weather)

- Insect Repellent

- Sunscreen

- Extra magazines and magazine pouches (Highly Recommended)
